Consulting for Adults and Children

Parent Education and Consultation

  • The development of a parenting and custody plan that takes into consideration the needs of the children and the family.
  • Assists and addresses moderate parental conflicts on child-related disagreements in ways that emphasize collaboration and supports a co-parenting relationship.
  • Consultation on the impact of divorce on the specific developmental and mental stage of your child.
  • Promotes and establishes a neutral setting for parents to talk about the impact of divorce and specific concerns about their children.
  • Develop strategies to reduce parental conflict and limit its impact on children.
  • Provide practical recommendations for both parents on how to share their decisions for divorce and then continuing to talk about their divorce in a supportive manner.
  • Provide overview of evidence-based treatment, which includes research on the best practices for helping children through the divorce process.

 

Reunification Therapy

  • Re-introduces a parent back into the child’s life in a safe, controlled and therapeutic manner.
  • Review of materials and records related to all parties involved, including parents and children, in the matter.
  • Parenting education for both parents on the benefits of having each parent involved in the child’s life.
  • Guiding process to allow the participation of the estranged parent.
  • Identify and attempt to correct any issues that may prevent the estranged parent from having a lifelong, lasting bond.
  • Consider ways to mollify the anger and hurt of the estranged parent.

 

Divorce Coaching

  • The divorce coach helps the client focus on the current situation, allowing problem-solving in areas such as a shared parenting plan, co-parenting, communication, how to work collaboratively to reach the clients’ specific goals and establishing both a personal and professional identity being newly-divorced.
  • Provides an understanding of all the court proceedings and keeping your personal goals at the forefront through all the stages of the divorce process.
  • Provides a supportive structure for coach and client to co-create a team approach.This collaborative effort makes it possible for the client to reach goals by creating action plans to achieve a more favorable outcome post-divorce.
  • Introduces the idea of keeping attention on areas of success and fulfillment to be considered as one moves through the divorce process so as to create and define their new life.

 

Parent Coordinator

  • Helpful in contentious divorce cases.
  • Focuses on teaching parents to put children first.
  • Educates parents about children’s developmental needs and the impact of divorce.
  • Offers a more child-focused perspective and highlights the importance of putting children’s needs first.
  • Teaches parents communication skills and coach them on how to resolve disagreements about their children.
  • Makes binding decisions on child-related issues when parents cannot come to a consensus.
  • Parent coordinating has become an emerging niche service since the 1990’s and has been utilized more and more by the court in an effort to reduce the amount of damaging conflict between parents and to diminish the pattern of unnecessary litigation about child-related issues.

 

Guardian ad Litem:

  • The mental health expert who is appointed by the court to gather and evaluate information about parents and their children.
  • Addresses and assists with determining such custody issues as the parents’ access to the child and parenting time for each party.
  • Utilized by parents involved in litigation about a specific issue regarding the children.
  • Submits a summary of a report to the court.
